An interesting view looking up the 1 in 90 gradient towards Hawbank Tunnel. A pair of ex-War Department 2-8-0s approach down grade with a long train of oil tanks, whilst climbing the bank is a 'B 16' class 4-6-0 with the Heysham - Haverton Hill lel ammonia tank train . The embankment passes along Spring Gardens and the road on the left is that to Ilkley. M.Feather
