David opening The Fountain Garden in 2006.
The Fountain Garden beside the Old School was originally planted by the Village in Bloom group as a rose garden in about 1990? It was rebuilt to include a boulder fountain by Addingham Garden Friends' volunteers in 2006 with financial help from the Conservative Trust chaired by David.
David was a long-time landlord of The Fleece. Sunday night concerts by 'The two Davids' with David Hopton raised a lot of money for charity. SEE PUBS>THE FLEECE COLLECTION
David Harrison was an avid metal detector, he found a Roman brooch and a bronze axe head. One day he found a piece of corrugated iron and he told the children it was a Roman hot water bottle – one child went to school and reported that she had seen this – needless to say the teachers had a good laugh.
David passed away peacefully shortly after his 90th birthday in 2023.
