The grave of Samuel Cunliffe-Lister (Lord Masham) following his funeral in 1906. He was born at Calverley Old Hall in Leeds on 01/01/1815 and died at Swinton Castle near Masham on 02/02/1906 aged 91. At his death he was one of the richest men in England having made his fortune in Bradford through wool and silk spinning. The principal mill associated with him is Manningham Mills (also called Lister's Mill) in Bradford.
Samuel's father John lived in Addingham and together with John Cockshott built Low Mill as a worsted mill. By the end of the 19th Century three of the five mills in Addingham were in the hands of the Lister family.
